Appears as a greater purple blob. It has a very short attack range, and even melee characters can strike at it without retaliation. The blob of violet fungus goo that it drops may cause hallucinations when consumed.
There was a bug at one point where blob and fog type enemies could deal huge amounts of damage if players got too close to them, but this has since been fixed in a patch.
