The Roman archer is a Roman ranged unit unique to Fort Ludious. They may be encountered awake, confused, under conflict, or sleeping. If confused or under conflict, they may be fighting each other, as well as nearby Romans legions and other creatures (random with each new game).
They are one of the few creatures in the game who can still do serious damage even to a high level player, due to their ranged attack.

- Suit of segmentata (always worn, -2 to +2 enchantment);
- Composite bow (always wielded, -2 to +2 enchantment);
- Twenty +1 iron arrows (always wielded);
- Chance to drop a bit of Roman archer innards.
Tips[]
- Due to the high health of the Roman archer, it will take awhile to slay one. Throwing a wand of polymorph at the Roman archer, will turn him into a creature much easier to deal with, in addition to the possibility of removing his equipment due to polymorph into a new creature;
- Throwing a wand of death at an alert Roman archer will not kill him. However, if the Roman archer is not aware of the player's presence, throwing the wand of death will deal critical damage and instantly kill him.
